Design has flexibility in mind at Toongi

Now Neil Doherty is just waiting for a concrete truck so pouring of the floor area can begin at his new sheepyards being built by Atlex Stockyards on "Allington", Toongi, just southeast of Dubbo.

The design considered ease of labour when working sheep and Mr Doherty (pictured) had an extra race included in the drenching area.

"It's all to do with making life easy and as I'm not getting any younger, I've got to look after my back and knees," he said.

The extra space between two 6.6 metre long races will allow him to drench 20 ewes on either side while walking along the centre and not between sheep.

"The only time I have to leave this race is when I need to push a new mob up," he said.

Mr Doherty and wife Jo, run a Merino flock of 2300 ewes growing 18.5 micron wool of Gullendah and now Langdene blood.
