WELLINGTON'S own celebrity ram Fred is living it up in Sydney's fashion district this week, as pictured on show at the Macquarie Centre in North Ryde as part of Australian Wool Innovation's Wool Week.
AWI's Wool Week, which runs until May 24, is part of a global campaign to educate consumers about the fibre's unique and natural benefits.
The campaign has kicked off just as Australia's top retailers have stocked their windows with winter fashion.
Over 14 Australian outlets, including major chains Country Road, Jigsaw, Sportscraft and Bugabaoo, have partnered with AWI to spruke wool to the public, with the rollout of new woollen product lines, in-store installations and window displays.
Fred, pictured with AWI shearing industry development co-ordinator Jim Murray, Wellington, will be making an appearance at the Macquarie Centre tonight for the Centre's special Wool Week shopping night.
Shoppers are encouraged to take photos of the ram and purchase woollen products from participating stores for their chance to win a $1000 prize.
The Wool Week display of 40 small sheep sculptures will linger at the shopping centre until the end of the month.
