NSW food growers and producers are tapping into significant export growth opportunities in South East Asia by showcasing their products in one of Singapore's leading supermarket chains.
Some of the rural companies to be showcased include Riverina Dairy, based in Albury, Sun Valley Australia from Finley in the Riverina and Alto Olives from Peelwood, near Cowra.
Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner said eight NSW food producers will participate in a NSW-focused in-store promotion at Cold Storage, the largest supermarket chain in Singapore with more than 55 stores.
"South East Asia has a large and fast-growing consumer market which represents a strong opportunity for NSW growers and producers to win new export business," Mr Stoner said.
"Singapore in particular is an excellent market for NSW food companies. It has well established distribution channels and transport infrastructure, is English speaking and imports approximately 90 per cent of its food requirements."
Mr Stoner said the initiative, taking place from April 8-11, would allow the participating NSW food companies direct access to consumers through a significant supermarket chain in a major export market.
