HEREFORD bulls sold to a top of $13,000 and Angus bulls reached $9000 at the annual Glenwarrah Herefords and Brooksby Angus sale at "Brooksby", Bundarra, on Wednesday.
A large crowd of buyers attended the sale, with bulls going to the Northern Tablelands, Northern Rivers, South East Queensland and the Hunter.
In the Hereford sale, 30 of the 35 bulls offered sold for an average of $4617 and clearance of 86 per cent.
Repeat Glenwarrah client Stuart Larsson, Mellanganee, bought the top-priced bull, Glenwarrah Spackman J098, for $13,000.
Weighing 992 kilograms, the 24-month-old bull by Strathleigh Olgive F594 from Glenwarrah Satisfaction 80 was the heaviest in the catalogue.
Spackman measured 42 centimetres in scrotal circumference and had estimated breeding values (EBVs) of +36 for 200-day weight, +52 for 400-day weight and +83 for 600-day weight.
The Hereford bull volume buyers were Clyde and Christine Sisson, "Brentwood", Armidale, who purchased four bulls averaging $3750.
In the Angus sale, all 23 bulls were sold, averaging $4239.
The top bull, Brooksby J84, sold for $9000 to Allan Ball, "Harnham Grove", Uralla.
The 23 month-old bull, by Wattletop Bull Durham G21 and from BHNZ35 Hopetoun Park Z35, weighed 778kg and had a scrotal circumference of 39cm.
He had estimated breeding values of +41 for 200-day weight, +80 for 400-day weight and +109 for 60-day weight.
The sale was conducted by Landmark Armidale and Armitage and Buckley, Armidale, with Joel Fleming, Landmark, and Luke Heagney, Armitage and Buckley, auctioneering.
