BULLS sold to a top of $6000 and average of $3565 at the 25th Spring Fling Shorthorn sale at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange on Wednesday.
Peter and Lou Capel, Bungulla Shorthorns, "Caloola", Manilla, sold the top-priced bull, Bungulla Herald, to Graham Ashby, Bundaleer Shorthorns, "Bundaleer", Gulnare, South Australia.
The 28-month-old bull, by Springwood Station Larrikin from Bungulla Queen, had estimated breeding values (EBVs) of +29 for 200-day weight, +36 for 400-day weight and +42 for 600-day weight.
Weighing 918 kilograms, it had a scrotal circumference of 43cm, scanned 24 millimetres and 16mm on the rump and rib and had an eye muscle area (EMA) measuring 126 square centimetres.
Eleven studs offered 53 bulls for sale, with 23 of them selling at auction for a clearance of 43 per cent.
A further five bulls old after the fall of the hammer.
