WIDESPREAD rain on the Northern Tablelands created strong local demand for cattle at the Glen Innes weaner sale on Friday.
The sale, the final of the big four weaner sales at Glen Innes, was up about 10 cents per kilogram on the previous week.
About 1800 head were yarded, made up of 1200 steers and 600 heifers.
Cattle came from Glen Innes and the surrounding districts, with many of them being pre-weaned prior to the sale.
Agents reported strong prices for some of the EU-accredited and pre-weaned cattle, with steers selling up to 295c/kg and heifers selling to a top of 244c/kg.
“It’s one of the most consistently strong sales we’ve seen here,” said Colin Say and Co director Shad Bailey.
