FOR seven years the Wilson family of Kerlson Pines stud has been picking up second and third placings in the Presidents Shield group of three bulls class at the annual Herefords Australia National Show and Sale at Dubbo, but the "shield" is theirs this year.
Their team bred at Keith, South Australia, was led by this year's Sydney Royal Show reserve junior champion and Dubbo senior class-winner, Kerlson Pines Carrieton H118 (P) by Allendale Waterloo B50 (P).
Carrieton's two offsiders were Kerlson Pines Highway H12 (AI) (P) by Allendale Waterhouse D1 (P), which also won a senior class, and Kerlson Pines Jack H211 (P) by Oldfield Excalibur E115 (P).
Runner-up group came from Claystone stud of Stacey Beggs, Bungendore, with her junior champion, Claystone Hercules H25 (AI) (P) by Merawah Thunder W31 (P) leading the group.
Her two other bulls were Claystone Hero H5 (P) by Claystone Mist (P), and Claystone Hunk H8 (P), another son of Merawah Thunder W31 (P).
Third placing went to Tycolah stud, Barraba, operated by the Crowley family and led by Tycolah Legend H187 (P) by Tycolah Jovial F77 (P), the Sydney Royal junior and grand champion bull.
