BUYERS from four states pushed prices to a top of $11,000 at Mountain Valley Poll Herefords 21st birthday bull sale at "Mountain Valley", Coolatai on Thursday.
Twenty four of the 38 bulls offered by Ian and Shelley Durkin sold for a clearance of 63 per cent and average of $5354, with a further five bulls selling immediately after the sale.
Repeat clients Andrew, Katrina and Jamie McIntyre, "Eastern River", Pinkett, near Glen Innes, were the top bidders, purchasing Mountain Valley Highjack.
The 25-month-old, by Cloverlee Spot On from Mountain Valley Victoria, weighed 920 kilograms, scanned 16 millimetres and 12mm on the rump and rib, measured 40 centimetres in scrotal circumference, and had an eye muscle area (EMA) of 128 square centimetres.
Highjack, the McIntyre's third Mountain Valley bull, has estimated breeding values (EBVs) of +4.3 for birthweight and +64 for 600-day weight.
