STRONG demand from local restockers looking to take advantage of feed after good rainfall earlier in the year pushed prices to a top of $915 a head at the Glen Innes EU-accredited weaner sale on Friday.
The 2000-head yarding featured some large, good quality lines from local breeders.
While there was some competition from Queensland buyers, most of the cattle were purchased by producers from the New England and North West.
John Chappell, "Bridgewater", Dundee, had the best cents per kilogram result, selling a large line of Angus steers to Geoff Bourne, "Box Hills", Ben Lomond.
The 120 six to eight-month-old steers were by Kansas Angus bulls, with Mr Chappell running a single-sire program to track sire performance in his commercial herd.
