QUEENSLAND exhibitors the Iseppi family, GK Livestock, Dalby, continued their domination of the female Red Angus judging at the Sydney Royal, winning grand champion cow for second year running.
This time around they went one better, however, when the senior and grand female was sashed best Red Angus exhibit.
Described by judge Gavin O’Brien, Winchester Charolais, Orange, as a “quality female”, GK Red Ruba 26 G40 drew attention from the moment it stepped into the ring.
The three year old cow had a thumping bull calf at foot, and impressed the judge enough to be judged supreme over the junior and grand champion bull Black Diamond Red Jaguar J502.
The 878 kilogram bull was 17-months-old with an eye muscle area of 125 square centimetres.
Mr O’Brien said the bull moved over the ground well, had good length of body and miles of cover on him.
GK Livestock also exhibited the junior champion female, GK Red 23 Tinsel J18, as well as the senior champion bull, GK Red 23 Heatseeker H50.
The Red Angus champions will head into the interbreed judging hoping to defend their breed’s title for the Hordern Trophy, awarded to the best pair of grand champions.
