They young stud master has eight breeding cows under his Cooper Shorthorns banner and purchased the winning cow, Sprys Gold’s Elle F444, at the end of last year to boost his herd.
The four and a half year old cow had a six month old heifer calf at foot, and judge Glenn Trout, Birubi Limousins, Wagga Wagga, said the cow ticked all the boxes.
“It is a lovely framed cow, lovely udder, certainly strong through the back line, beautiful from behind and has a magnificent body alongside her,” he said.
Grand champion bull was awarded to Roger and Niaomi Evans, Nagol Park Shorthorns, Tamworth, for Nagol Park XLT Jagga J116, a two year old senior exhibit weighing 960 kilograms.
The junior champion bull, exhibited by Ross and Janelle Johnstone, Garland, NSW, was Ronelle Park Jamaica, and the 838kg sire will go on to be offered at the Shorthorn National sale at Dubbo in June.
Mr Trout said the junior champion heifer, TC Diamond Lacey, exhibited by Claudia Nielsen, would be hard to beat in the interbreed heifer competition still to come at the Sydney Royal Show.
