TOM Holt of Tondara Hereford stud was at home with a broken leg when he came across a remarkable bull from the US on YouTube and knew he needed to pursue his genetics.
That bull, SLDK Vendetta V-9 had been the senior champion bull at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado, in 2011.
Mr Holt managed to get some semen and from that he produced Tondara Clines Vendetta J303.
At Sydney Royal the 1094 kilogram bull, with a 137 square centimetre eye muscle area demonstrated that, like his father, he is a star in the show ring.
He claimed both the senior and grand champion bull ribbons in the Hereford ring, and then went on to be selected as the best Hereford exhibit.
Judge Chris Knox, DSK Angus and Charolais stud, Coonabarabran, said the bull had "performance, combined with softness and tremendous muscle content".
Clines Vendetta went up against the senior and grand champion female, Claystone Gladiola H19, exhibited by Stacey Moffitt, Claystone stud, Bungendore.
The cow had recent success at Canberra Royal having been supreme champion Hereford and supreme whiteface champion.
Sired by Merawah Thunder W31, the cow's half sister, Nolaroo Irish Rose, was the junior champion female over in the Poll Hereford ring at Sydney.
Mr Knox said Gladiola was an attractive, functional female and had the good skin and hair type he was seeking in a champion female.
