THE Limousin feature showing at the Canberra Show got off to an impressive start on Thursday, when Limousins were sashed champion and reserve in the purebred led steer judging.
A 17-month old black Limousin bred by James O'Brien, Bonian Limousins, Ballarat, Victoria, was named champion purebred led steer by judge Bob Watts, Watts Livestock, Harden.
Exhibited by Chelsea Peacock, Saint Johns College, Dubbo, the steer weighed 614 kilograms and Mr Watts said it had everything he was looking for.
Reserve champion purebred steer also went to to a black Limousin exhibit, bred by Scott Myers and Samantha Beresford, Myers Limousin, Colo Vale.
Weighing 412 kilograms, the steer was from the youngest class and will go on to compete at the Sydney Royal Show.
Mr Watts commented on the length, depth, width and muscle of both exhibits.
