THIS year's Red Angus National Show and Sale may not have reached the same record-equalling highs as last year but today's top of $13,000 shows there is plenty of interest in the breed.
A rising two-year-old bull exhibited by Monique Gapes and Triple M Red Angus, Rukenvale, topped the bull sale.
Ruby Red Fat Boy was purchased for $13,000 by Gloucester buyer Ken Laurie.
Sixteen of 23 bulls offered were sold while eight of the 11 females up for grabs were sold at auction.
Bulls averaged $6063 while females averaged $3688.
Preceeding the sale, Goonoo Red Full Cassie was sashed grand champion female.
With a bull calf at foot, the unit was exhibited by the Jordan family, Goonoo, Tamworth.
Cassie went on to top the female section at auction, selling for $8000 to Fishington Partnership, Wongwibinda.
Grand champion bull honours were awarded to T&R Just As Real J29, exhibited by T&R Genetics, Wellington.
