Overcast and windy conditions could not dampen the enthusiasm of golfers at the 39th annual Agricultural Industries Golf Day on Tuesday, October 14.
The popular spring event attracted a large turnout of people from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and regional rural areas who were keen to test their golfing ability at Lynwood Country Club.
Lynwood’s links style golf course was built and completed in 2010, and is set among the picturesque Pitt Town lagoon, with sweeping views across farmlands and the Blue Mountains. It is one of the five historic towns established by Governor Macquarie in 1810.
The 18 hole course, designed by Graham Papworth, president of the Australian Golf Course Architects Association, takes advantage of the natural features of the area including wetlands and natural rough.
Committee member Al Kellaway, of AgPeople, said players represented a wide range of industries servicing the agricultural and its related sectors.
CRT, the largest independent rural retailing group in Australia, and a part of the Ruralco group, had the biggest representation with almost 40 members playing.
The Ambrose four-ball team event allowed players of all abilities to participate.
Prizes included $10,000 on a hole-inone competition. Unfortunately, the strong winds on the tee area meant the money stayed safe for another year.
