A CALL has gone out to innovative western NSW farmers to participate in a new mentoring program.
LAND managers from the Local Land Services Western Local Region are being sought to take part in a mentoring program aimed at providing support and guidance to fellow landholders.
The Western Division Resilient Landscapes Project- Mentoring Program will offer landholders peer-to-peer mentoring for the management of their properties.
Team leader Gemma Turnbull said the program was a joint initiative between Local Land Services Western Region, the Soils for Life Program chaired by former Governer-General Michael Jeffery and the Rotary Club of Sydney.
As part of the project, Soils for Life has already conducted two western region case studies showcasing progressive farmers whose practices are adding resilience to their properties.
"We are hoping to attract more enthusiastic and progressive land managers who are willing to mentor other landholders over a 12-month period," Ms Turnbull said.
"The role of the mentor will be to develop a one-on-one partnership with an emerging innovative land manager and provide an intensive program with them to support on-farm innovation, development and practice change."
Interested landholders need to obtain a copy of the expressions of interest form and submit their application before close ob business on Monday February 16.
