COOLAH couple Ken and Joyce Tuckey have embarked on their fourth round-trip of Australia in the name of charity, this time in a Sonolika tractor.
The couple are three weeks into their adventure and have already raised $5000 to go towards the Make-a-Wish Foundation, The Kids’ Cancer Project, CareFlight Australia and the Westpac Foundation.
Mr Tuckey said there was no particular motivation for his travels.
"I'm old, it gives me something to do and I like to travel," he joked.
Since 1995, the couple have raised $425,000 for a variety of charities with $230,000 of this donated to the Children's Cancer Research Trust.
"This is the fourth time I've been around Australia," MR Tuckey said. "I did a 16,000 kilometre walk with camels. drove an all-terrain vehicle across the Nullabor plains and did the 25,000km trek around Australia three times already."
The Tuckey's estimate to finish their fundraising journey in late October with $50,000 in the kitty to be split between the chosen charities.
Mr Tuckey said he was on the lookout for someone who would like to join him on the second leg.
“We will be using Coolah as a base during our trip, to have a few days rest before we start up towards Queensland and then across to Mt Isa,” Mr Tuckey said.
“I’m after crew for the second leg from Coolah to Perth, then to Darwin and back through Alice Springs.”
Mr Tuckey said the second leg will take around three months and all food will be supplied. Anyone looking for more information is encouraged to contact him on 0428368852.
The couple said a special thanks had to go to their sponsors: Ausure, Tyreright, Auto Barn, Robertson's, Dubbo Tool Centre, Rapidplas, the media and the Australian Police Force.
