THIS Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3, the Farming Small Areas Expo will bring the Hawkesbury Showground to life, showcasing a range of farming innovations and equipment.
At Clarendon, in Sydney’s north west, between Windsor and Richmond, the expo will have a range of new features including a cattle show, talks and demonstration program, vintage car display, and a talent show.
The Farm Services NSW Small Breeds Cattle Show will have a range of breeds including Australian Low-
lines, Auslines, Dexters, Miniature Galloways and more vying for supreme champion.
Breeders of these niche cattle will be on hand to discuss husbandry needs, handling skills and provide information on each breed.
For the children there will be calf capers on Sunday where visitors to the event can try their hand at dressing up a calf.
A talks program will take place in the main pavilion with speakers discussing a range of topics including free range poultry farming, worm farming, cooking and establishing an online presence for your business.
TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute Richmond College will also be running a range of talks and demonstrations including looking at orchard care, land management, weed identification, working dog health care, performance horse fitness, insuring the farm and more.
While the usual demonstrations of farriery, heavy horse handling, vaulting, whip cracking and more will also take place.
Also new to the expo this year will be a display by The Australiana Pioneer Village showcasing how farming was done back in the 19th Century.
On show will be blacksmithing, woodwork and sawing, period costumes and more.
A talent contest will also be taking place at the expo with the assistance of Hawkesbury Radio, 89.9FM.
Local artists and bands are encouraged to enter and perform at the expo.
The Country Women’s Association (CWA) will make a return to the expo this year showcasing a range of cooking and other skills to visitors.
