NORTHERN Tablelands Local Land Services livestock officers districts vets are hitting the road to give farmers useful and timely advice for managing stock health and productivity through winter.
A series of workshops will take place at Armidale, Walcha, Glen Innes, Ashford, and Deepwater from May 12 to May 20, focusing on sheep and beef market outlooks; pneumonia, clostridial diseases, theileria and management and control of liver fluke; drench resistance and the value of worm egg counts in cattle; Barbervax, the world's first vaccine for controlling Barber's Pole worm in lambs; and improving reproductive performance of cattle through genetics and management.
Speakers from LLS, NSW Department of Primary Industries and GrazAg will provide the most up to date information on livestock health and management, tailored to the needs of producers on the Northern Tablelands.
"Producers will be able to ask their own specific health and production questions in an open forum, and will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the technical knowledge and skills of speakers at the workshops to answer their questions confidentially," said LLS livestock officer Jason Siddell.
Workshops will take place at GrazAg, Armidale, on May 12, Walcha Veterinary Supplies on May 13 and Glen Innes Research and Advisory Station on May 15, Ashford Bowling Club on May 18 and Deepwater Hall on May 20.
