POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of man at Griffith at the weekend.
About 2pm on Saturday, officers from Griffith Local Area Command were called to a grassed area near the main canal on Bridge Road, after reports of a man had been found dead at the location.
On arrival officers located a deceased 35-year-old man, who is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene was established and examined by special forensic officers.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and a post mortem examination will be done in coming days to establish the cause of death.
It would appear that the man had been staying at this location for some time.
Investigators are not treating the death as suspicious at this stage, however would appeal for anyone with any information about the incident to contact Griffith Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
