AS OF Thursday afternoon a total of 34 fires were burning across NSW, however all were sitting at Advice level according to a NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman.
The spokesman said that of those 34 fires, six were burning out of control but most tended to be in quite isolated areas.
"Over the course of the day a number of fires had popped up but we had managed to get on top of them quite quickly," the spokesman said.
"It looks like, over the next few days, there should also be more favourable weather conditions."
The spokesman said two strike teams, or a total of 10 vehicles, from southern NSW had been sent across the border in Victoria to assist with a fire burning to the west of Wangaratta.
They are likely to continue assisting tomorrow.
One of the 34 NSW fires burning was a grass fire at Mullion, in the Yass Valley not far from the ACT border, but which was under control.
It had burnt land on grazier Richard Buckmaster's property, as well as some other properties in the area.
