HEATWAVE conditions predicted for the weekend have the Rural Fire Service (RFS) on alert for bushfires across NSW.
High to very high fire danger warnings have been declared for much of the State by RFS for tomorrow and Sunday.
Weatherzone meteorologist Guy Dixon said the hottest part of NSW will be in the north west, however almost all of the State will swelter under temperatures far higher than average for November.
"Bourke is looking at 44 to 45 degrees," Mr Dixon said.
"In the Central West, Dubbo will hit 42 degrees - at this time of the year, the average temperature there is 28."
In the south, Wagga Wagga was forecast to get temperatures up to 39 degrees.
Mr Dixon said this was far above the average temperature for Wagga in November, which is 25.8 degrees.
The heatwave was expected to pass by Monday.
"There'll be intense heat, followed by relief of widespread rain," he said.
Monday and Tuesday should bring falls of 15 millimetres to 20mm for most parts of the State, with the potential for some areas to get more from localised thunderstorms.
The Bureau of Meteorology has also issued a thunderstorm warning for Friday afternoon and evening for parts of the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast and Northern Tablelands.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Woolgoolga, Sawtell and Dorrigo.
