FOR the second time since colonisation, iconic Cassilis property Tongy Station has hit the market.
The property, one of the finest in the state with its deep rich black soil plains, high production capacity, and water assets, is owned by the Baillieu family.
"Tongy" is watered by the Talbragar River and Turee Creek running through the full length of the property along with a 74 megalitre water entitlement for irrigation.
The property, which is also famed for its historical Victorian homestead (pictured), is managed by Mutual Trust with a clear plan to raise the carrying capacity (currently 40,000 dry sheep equivalent) through an ongoing pasture and fencing renovation program.
"The sale of 'Tongy' is an indication of how hot the market is, right now," said Colliers director of rural and agribusiness transaction services Richard Royle.
It is set to be officially listed on August 10 with a five week expression of interest window.
Mr Royle has already fielded inquiries based merely on the rumour of the property's sale.
The Baillieu family bought the property in 1923.
