A SERIOUS fire has engulfed a seed shed at Southern Cotton's Whitton gin.
At about 5.45pm on Monday night, local authorities were called to the site of the Whitton gin where a serious fire had broken out in the seed shed.
The fire has now been contained and there were no injuries.
The local Rural Fire Brigades, Leeton Fire Brigade, HAZMAT and a team from Southern Cotton team responded quickly.
Fire and Rescue Leeton Captain Graham Parks said a HAZMAT unit and one truck was required to fight the blaze.
"With the help of the RFS we were able to get the fire out... we did have to use the thermal imaging camera to identify hot spots and extinguish those," he said.
"By the time we got there, there was a lot of smoke and not a lot of fire.
"There was lots of damage."
While the extent of the damage is still to be determined, some reports say the shed has been destroyed by the blaze.
