NSW Government has promised to invest $60 million into redevelopment of the Armidale Hospital.
Deputy Premier Troy Grant and Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall announced the election commitment today.
"The $60 million redevelopment will deliver a new emergency department, new critical care unit, new in-patient ward, new operating theatres and a new sterilising unit, all in a state-of-the-art new four-storey building," Mr Grant said.
Mr Marshall said he was thrilled for the region, with the development set to transform health care in Armidale and the Northern Tablelands,
He said the hospital's redevelopment would contribute greatly to the training and retention of healthcare workers.
"There is not a person in our community who doesn't recognise the need for Armidale Hospital to be redeveloped to meet our future health needs," Mr Marshall said.
"The upgrade of Armidale Hospital is about more than bricks and mortar. It will attract quality health staff to live and work in our region and ensure our hard-working doctors, nurses and others have a workplace they can be proud of."
