BOTH new and return clients made an impression at the 39th annual Tattykeel Dorset sale at Oberon last week, which reached a top price of $12,000.
Of the 25 registered Poll Dorset rams offered, 23 sold for an average price of $5152, while 35 of 40 stud Poll Dorset ewes cleared to average $441.50.
The sale-topping ram, an April 2013-drop weighing 150 kilograms, tag number 289, was purchased by Ken and Norma Williams, Ashburnia Poll Dorset Stud, Four Mile Creek via Orange.
New clients, the Graham family, Maitland, South Australia, were the volume ewe buyers, as well as taking home the second-highest priced ram in the catalogue.
Three buyers purchased more than one ram, with Bobar Partnership, Braidwood, buying two lots to a top of $5000, averaging $4500; Minto Pastoral,Mansfield, Vic also taking two topping at $5000, averaging $4500, and G.T. Turner, “Rosebank”, Temora, topping at $6000 and also averaging $4500 for two.
Tattykeel principal Graham Gilmore said buyers were chasing thick, soft doing sheep that matured quickly.
