A GOOD mix of old and new buyers bought at the annual Airlie Merino ram sale on Thursday at Urulla showground.
The Power family achieved a sale high of $4400 and averaged $1771, having reached the $14,000 sale top at the recent Great Southern Supreme Merinos in Canberra.
Lot one, a Poll Merino ram, took out top honours weighing in at 126 kilograms.
The highly sought after sire was purchased by first time buyer Paul Pittman, Glenburnie Merino stud, Walcha.
The $4400 ram had a fibre diameter of 18.4 micron and a comfort factor of 99.9 per cent.
Buyers from across the New England, North and Central west helped clear all 52 lots offered which ranged from 17.5 to 18 microns.
Airlie principal Murray Power was ecstatic with the sale result.
"It went well and truly above my expectation and was a great indicator for the market ahead," he said.
