A TOTAL clearance of 64 Bongongo Angus bulls offered, for average price of $5875 and a top price of $10,500, augured well for the Graham family at their 20th annual on property spring bull Sale.
Representing some of the best Angus genetics in the country, the Bongongo Angus bulls offered were in superb condition and attracted strong bidding throughout the sale.
Graeme Harris, “Springvale”, Coolac, and his son Robert paid top price and selected Bongongo J122 (APR) (AI) for his outstanding conformation and growth for a young bull.
“He was the pick of the young bulls offered,” Graeme Harris said.
The Harris family have been repeat clients of Bongongo since purchasing their first line of Bongongo-bred Angus cows 15 years ago.
They now have a high quality self-replacing Angus cow herd and concentrate on producing steers for the feedlot market at weights of 450 to 500 kg at 14-15 months.
The cull heifers are also sold into the feedlot.
This year, due to the extraordinary autumn and winter, the steers sold of “Springvale” have been up to two months younger and still reaching feedlot entry weights.
The Harris family also purchased Bongongo H560 (AI) for $8000 and Bongongo J152 (APR) for $8500 to complete their draft.
There was strong support from local and repeat buyers, which pleased Bill Graham, Bongongo Angus stud, Coolac.
“It was an outstanding sale with consistent prices right through,” Mr Graham said.
