NEW genetics and new faces helped clear the lot and push prices to a $13,000 top twice at the 16th Annual Booragul Angus Bull Sale, held near Gunnedah last Wednesday.
All 52 bulls sold with 42 two-year old bulls topping at $13,000 and averaging $6,500 and 10 yearling bulls topping at $13,000 and averaging $7,300.
Overall the sale averaged $6,654.
"Outstanding weaners" was a common statement made by many buyers on the day including repeat clients Murrunjai Pastoral Company, Glenmoan Station, Willow Tree.
Murrunjai Livestock managers and handlers Keith Jones and Scott Davis, secured the first of the $13,000 top price lot Booragul Frankel J76.
Weighing 855 kilograms and measuring a scrotal circumference of 38cm, the two-year-old bull was sired by Booragul's
star reference sire, Booroomooka Frankel F510, a bull sold by the Munro family in 2012 for $65,000.
This year is the first time Frankel sons have been offered for sale and the new bloodline proved to be a success with Booragul principals, Tim and Margaret Vincent, achieving an average of $9,100 for the 10 Frankel sons catalogued.
The sale was conducted by Elders with Paul Dooley, Paul Dooley Pty Ltd, Tamworth as guest auctioneer.
