AT the 29th annual Bundilla on-property ram sale today, rams sold to a top of $7000 to both return and new clients.
The Baldwin family offered 168 Poll Merino rams with 158 selling to an average of $1844.30.
The top priced ram, a July/August drop weighing 107 kilograms, measured a 21.5-micron fibre diameter, 3.3-micron standard deviation (SD), 15.4 co-efficient of variation (CV), and 99.3 comfort factor (CF).
A twin, from sire 110107 (RR1), he was purchased by return client Jim Brooker, Futter Park, Harden, on behalf of his father, John Brooker.
Mr Brooker said the ram had a good outlook, a good frame and volume.
“He was picked on visual attributes, but had the figures there to back that up,” he said.
Classer for Futter Park, Chris Bowman, assisted in selecting the top sire as well as two other clients on the day.
He secured 10 rams for Weewondilla Pastoral Company, Longreach, Queensland, for an average of $1380.
Co-principal of Bundilla stud, Jill Baldwin, said it was a very pleasing result.
“I think the quality of rams were a step up on last year’s draft,” she said.
The sale was conducted by Landmark Stud Stock with Paul Dooley, Tamworth, on the rostrum assisted by Rick Power, Landmark Stud Stock, Boorowa.
