THE third on-property bull sale at Elstow Charolais, Baradine Monday August, 24 topped at $12,000.
Principals Bruce, Margaret and Shannon McConnaughty offered 29 and sold 25 Charolais bulls, averaged $4300, they offered 10 females to top $2750, twice and sold seven to average $2357.
There were 24 registered bidders from as far as Allora, Queensland bidding on the phone and from the local district.
Lot one Elstow Kickstart sold for $12,000 to the Boland family, Coraki.
Kickstart was sired by Branch View Gomez from Elstow Pricilla B59E.
The 17 month old, weighing 974 kilograms had a scrotal circumference of 40 centimetres, P8 fat, 9 and rib 7 millimetres and an eye muscles area of 140 square centimetres
Paul and Maureen Boland, East Coraki purchased the top priced bull to go into their commercial breeding herd of Hereford cows crossed with Charolais bulls.
Mr Boland said he liked Kickstart for his length, shape and the good muscles on his rump.
"He will increase the growth rate in the calves."
First time buyers to Elstow Stephen Hayward and partner Kelly Smith, Advance Charolais, Allora, Queensland purchased the second top priced bull Elstow Jim Beam for $8000.
Seven out of 10 females sold to a top of $2750, twice to an average $2357.
Elstow Humour E49E and Elstow Friesua D180E were the two top females, which both had the same grandfather Elstow Trust Me.
The Bartlett Family from "Annandale", Trangie purchased the two equal top-priced females.
Paul and Victoria Bartlett said they purchased from Elstow for their children's stud for about five years.
Co-principal Shannon McConnaughty said its was a great result.
"We are very happy with it, people are coming out of a drought and the current market has certainly helped."
The sale was conducted under the helmsman system by Landmark Narrabri.
