THE McLachlan Group held its first Airlie Charolais and Talis Angus bull sale at “North Logan”, Cowra, yesterday with first time buyers seeking the bulls on offer.
Twenty-two of the 40 Charolais and Angus bulls offered sold to a top of $3750 and a $3079 average.
In the breakdown, nine Charolais bulls of the 20 offered sold to a top of $3750 and $3083 average, while 12 of the 20 Angus bulls offered sold averaging $3075 and topping at $3250.
The top price was paid for a Charolais bull by Paul and Mollie Agostino, “Malongulli”, Canowindra, who were also volume buyers on the day taking six home for an average of $3125.
The 23-month-old top priced bull, Airlie H83E Commercial, a son of Airlie Dalgite from Airlie C109E, weighed 760 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 41 centimetres.
North Logan manager Collin Tangye described the bull as a powerhouse.
“You look at him and you can see the meat and muscle and he is a good weight for his age,” Mr Tangye said.
Airlie Charolais and Talis Angus manager Warren Miller said the sale wasn't far from expectations.
“At the end of the day if I move 50 per cent or better I’m happy,” Mr Miller said.
“Being the first sale, new in the area and considering current times, I expected it may be a bit tough."
