STRONG commercial demand for bulls and females at the sixth annual Gilmandyke Angus Sale last Friday resulted in 120 of 120 commercial Angus heifers pregnancy tested in calf due next Autumn selling to $1200 and averaging $1025, while 64 of the 65 bulls catalogued sold to a top of $8500 and averaged $4351.
The top priced bull Gilmandyke Hickeys H0171, sired by Millah Murrah Equator D78, had a good spread of birth to growth with estimated breeding values (EBVs), including a moderate birthweight of +4.7 kilograms through to 400 and 600 day growth figures of +95 and +131 kilograms respectively sold to the Strahorn Family of Molong.
The Starhorns purchased three bulls on the day at an average of $6666.
Jane Bunting also of Molong purchased 50 of the commercial heifers at an average of $1000 and also two bulls paying to $7000 for Gilmandyke Hanwood H0390.
