KNOWLA Livestock cleared the lot and set two new records at their on-property Angus Bull sale at Gloucester last Saturday.
James and Ted Laurie sold all 56 Angus bulls to achieve a new sale high of $32,000 and average of $7340.
Knowla Jimmy Bartel J68 - a 24 month old sired by Ayrvale Bartel E7 weighing 890 kilograms - hit the $32,000 record for.
The bull had a scrotal circumference of 46 centimetres and was [urchased by Elliot McKinnon on behalf of Sarah and Russel Keddey of Fernleigh Enterprises, Ellerston.
Jimmy Bartel J68 had estimated breeding values (EBVs) in the top one per cent for Angus Bulls, with a birth weight of +3.9, 600-day weight of +128, milk of +22, eye muscle area (EMA) of +5.7, intramuscular fat (IMF) of +2.9 and was +$149 on the Angus Breeding Index.
Fernleigh Enterprises also purchased another Bartel E7 son at $13,000.
Second highest priced bull at $18,000, Knowla Katich, was purchased by Chris Watson, Kimbriki, on the Manning River.
Knowla Katich was an 16 month old son of Waitara Ekroid E12 with a birth weight EBV of +4.5, 600-day of +111, milk at +19, EMA of +5.3, IMF
of +1.8 and +$118 on the Angus Breeding Index.
Long time supporter Joe Berry, "Buri West", Walcha, paid $10,000 for the 17-month old Knowla Kentucky K22, also purchasing a pen of 15 yearling heifers for $1250 a head.
The draft of un-joined Angus heifers offered on the day was a total clearnce of 89 and averaged $1110.
For the second year in a row Barry Henderson, "Skibo Downs", Gloucester purchased four bulls.
With this years selection topped at $7,500 for Knowla Just a Dash J134, to average of $6375.
Repeat clients again were active on the day, including Robert and Robyn Waugh, Bellingen, purchasing two bulls at a top of $10,000; while Ken and Kelly Harvey, Markewell, paid $13,000
for their choice Knowla Jonah Lomu J93, and also purchased Knowla Joker J104 for $8000.
New clients, Phillip Flemming, Waranulla, and Mackaway Pastoral Co, Walcha, both bought three bulls.
James Laurie of Knowla Livestock said strong sentiment for the cattle industry produced an outstanding result creating a new record high and average for the Knowla Livestock sale.
The sale was settled by Elders Walcha with Paul Dooley, Tamworth as guest auctioneer.
