MUDGEE saleyards saw strong competition for one thousand Angus cattle, made up of 85 lots of steers, heifers, young cows and calves, at the 18th annual Peabody Energy Mudgee Angus Breeders Sale at Mudgee Regional Saleyards today.
For the first time steers and heifers were weighed prior to sale, which provided buyers an indication of weight with type and quality.
Steers 8-9 months weighing 387 kilograms and bred by the Scott Fell family, "Wonga", Mudgee, topped at $930 to a Dubbo district
feedlotter.
Cows and calves offered by GNV Pastoral, "Narbethong", Mudgee, topped at $1640 a unit.
Champion pen of females was a 13 head line-up of 21 month-old heifers bred and offered by Trio Angus, Cassilis, which topped the section at $1310 a head.
Unjoined heifers, 16 months pf EGH Holdings, "Spring Flat", Mudgee topped $860 a head.
