A VERY good line of young sires was penned by Alastair and Natasha Wells for their annual One Oak Poll Merino ram sale.
Prospective buyers were impressed by the quality of the offering.
Strong support from repeat buyers underpinned a very good sale.
The top price of $4000 was paid for Lot 39 by Daryl Harrison, manager of Natue Pastoral Co, “Natue”, Booligal.
The young ram is an outstanding type with good depth and length of body and an impressive fleece measuring 19.8 microns and Comfort Factor 98.8.
Mr Harrison joins 2600 Merino ewes annually on “Natue” and has been purchasing rams from One Oak Poll for the past 4 years.
“The One Oak Polls are giving us the scale and wool cut we are looking for,” he said.
“We are looking for high quality, heavy cutting sheep, with long and deep crimping staples.
“I think this ram is very well covered with a strong topline.
“He is one very powerful ram, and will be joined to a line of specially selected maiden ewes recently classed by Michael Elmes,” Mr Harrison said.
Mr Harrison also purchased Lot 4 for $2200 and Lot 7 for $2200.
Among the volume buyers, AN & JR Ireland, “Allonvale”, Tullibigeal, selected 3 rams at a top of $3200 for a young ram measuring 18.5 microns with Comfort Factor 99.9.

Mr Wells was very pleased with the result.
“It is on par with district sales and we are encouraged by the repeat buyers.”
