THE 22nd Annual DSK Angus and Charolais bull sale hit a $12,000 high at Gunnedah on Thursday.
Vendors, Chris Knox and Helen Alexander, sold 35 of 37 Angus bulls to the sale top and averaged $6086, while 21 of 29 Charolais bulls topped at $8500 and averaged $4239.
Eleven Remital H Rachis sons sold in the sale to average $8319.
DSK RR Jimbob J21 attracted the most attention on the day selling to Ced Wise, Glenisa Angus, Glen Aplin, Queensland for $12,000.
The 24-month old Rachis son tipped the scale at 1016 kilograms, measured a scrotal size of 44 centimetres and scanned a P8 fat of 26 millimetres, a rib of 15mm, an eye muscle area (EMA) of 137 square centimetres and 6.4 per cent for intramuscular fat (IMF).
"J21 once again proves the breeding power of these young Darby daughters and how well they click with Rachis," said Mr Knox, who went on on to describe the bull as having "loads of substance and full of meat from head to hoof".
First time buyer, Frank Blake, "Rosebrook", Scone, secured the second and third highest priced Angus bulls from the DSK draft for $11,500 and $11,000.
Both Rachis sons, the first DSK R Joey J27 was out of a Baldridge Nebraska daughter and weighed 828kg whilst the second, DSK RR Jerry J24 was from a Darby daughter and weighed 962kg.
In total Mr Blake purchased four Angus bulls and two Charolais to average $7300.
For the first time DSK offered a run of yearling Angus bulls which topped at $10,500 for a Rachis son paid by repeat buyer Frank Elsley, "Bundaleer", Spring Ridge.
Jeogla Pastoral, Armidale secured nine Angus bulls to top at $6000 and average $5375.
DSK PGM Justified J4E topped the Charolais draft selling to Joanne Humphries, "Marlen", Moree, for $8500.
The 24-month old Pilgrim son out of a JCR Sir Duke daughter weighed in at 1010kg and scanned a P8 of 12mm, rib of 7mm, an EMA of 141cm2 and IMF of 5.9pc.
The sale was conducted by Purtle Plevey Agencies, Manilla, and Landmark Gunnedah with Andrew Wishart controlling the bids.
