BIDDING reached a top of $10,000 at the 30th annual Tummel Herefords on-property bull sale at "Lochaber", Walcha, yesterday.
While repeat buyers purchased about 90 per cent of the draft, the top-priced bull, Tummel Emblem H449, went to new buyers David and Leeanne Reid, "Rangers Valley", Nundle.
The two-year-old bull, by Valley Vista Emblem E913 from Tummel Matchless E174, weighed 940 kilograms, had a scrotal circumference of 39 centimetres and an eye muscle area (EMA) of 121 square centimetres
Twenty five of the 34 bulls offered at the sale sold for a clearance of 68 per cent.
The sale's second top-priced bull, Tummel Action H558, was the heaviest bull in the draft, weighing 1048kg and sold for $8000 to Neil and Beth Higgins, who also purchased a second Reedy Creek Action 28 son in Tummel Action H560.
