A NUMBER of repeat buyers attended the second annual Waratah Speckle Park sale at Guyra on Monday and sent the top price to $18,000.
Of the 51 bulls offered, 43 sold to an average of $4605.
Out of the 24 stud females available, 21 sold to an average of $4535 and a top of $9000, purchased by Sandra Verdonschot, Sandra Jane Speckle Park stud, Monto, Queensland.
Two commercial pregnancy-tested-in-calf females were sold at the sale for $1900, and five unjoined commercial females sold to a top of $1250
The top price bull, Waratah Just Chillin J154LST J154, weighed 724kg, had an eye muscle area (EMA) of 121 square centimetres, an intramuscular fat (IMF) of 6.4 per cent, and a scrotal circumference of 37cm.
Repeat buyer Murray Van Drift from Black Diamond Speckle Parks, Macorna, Victoria, purchased the top price bull for his "overall shape and quality carcase traits".
"He's a very upstanding bull," he said.
Colin Say and Co agent Nathan Purvis, Glen Innes, said there was certainly bulls with good commercial value available at the sale.
"It was a good solid sale right through," he said.
Mr Purvis said it was pleasing to see so many repeat buyers attending the Waratah sale and good demand for the Speckle Park breed.
Stud principal Laiton Turnham said he was pleased with the sale results and receiving support from the local area as well as interstate buyers from Victoria and Qld.
The sale was settled by Colin Say and Co, Glen Innes and Ray White, Guyra.
