OCKER rockers shock: nobody is more excited by the launch of AC/DC's new album than the people of the small country NSW town The Rock.
The little community near to Wagga Wagga has a population of only 850, but will be the first in the world to hear the band's new Rock or Bust album, when it is aired at the town's monthly market day this Sunday, November 23.
Residents of The Rock will be privy to the songs five days before the album is released globally on November 28.
While it is understood the legendary Australian band will not be in attendance at the launch, the whole region is buzzing as if they were, according to Lockhart Shire Council tourism and economic development officer Jennifer Connor.
"To have an event of this size and magnitude is phenomenal for The Rock," she said.
"There is a really great atmosphere around the event, throughout the shire and even the whole Riverina.
"The Rolling Stone magazine has been talking about our little town, which is something we couldn't have believed until now. It really has put us on the map."
She said the number of market holders has tripled in anticipation of big crowds, something the local Progress Association is thrilled about.
The markets will begin at 8am, with the album being played from midday onwards.
"Bring a blanket or chair and sit under the trees; it will be an awesome day."
