THE Australasian Dorset Champions got underway with Dorset Horn and Poll Dorset ewe judging at Bendigo, Victoria on Saturday.
And it was the NSW show in both instances, with exhibits from the State taking out all the main awards.
Champion Dorset Horn ram was won by Bimbadeen Park, Coonabarabran, ram, weighing 128.5 kilograms with an eye muscle area of 34.33 millimetres.
In the Dorset Horn female classes, Keith Coble’s Kei Vale stud, Boorowa, won the champion broadribbon, with a June-2013 drop ewe.
Valley Vista, Coolac, exhibited the champion Poll Dorset ewe, while Rene, Culcairn, was awarded reserve.
Judge Garry Armstrong and associate Sam Armstrong, both of Armdale Park Poll Dorsets, Marrar, adjudicated over both sections.
Mr Armstrong said the champion Poll Dorset ewe - which came from the ewe under one and a half years old in wool class - was a standout from the start, and an obvious choice for the award.
Poll Dorset rams will stand the mat for judging on Sunday.
