AT the Davis family’s Demondrille Merino ram sale at Harden on Tuesday rams sold to an average of $1957 for 92 out of a 94 strong draft.
A top price of $4250 was paid by return clients Tim and Jodie Barry, TB/Lordclyde, Clunes, Victoria.
The ram, sired by DMS 0011, was the heaviest in the draft weighing 103 kilograms and measured 19.8-micron fleece weight, 3.3-micron standard deviation, 16.4 co-efficient of variation, 99.4 comfort factor with a greasy fleece weight of 145 per cent.
The Barrys said the Demondrille sheep have been performing well for them.
“They have good vigour and are big framed,” Mr Barry said.
“We like the bold wool type and we tend to go for them.”
Volume buyer was the Sargent family, Boorowa who picked up eight rams topping at $3000.
Co-principal of Demondrille stud, Patrick Davis, said he was overwhelmed with the sale result.
“Overall it was a fantastic sale, very consistent, especially with the way the market is at the moment,” he said.
The sale was conducted by Elders Goulburn and Landmark Goulburn with the Steve Ridley, Elders Goulburn and Rick Power, Landmark Boorowa, sharing the auctioneering duties.
