ONE Oak stud principals Graham and Mary Wells bade farewell to the NSW show circuit ahead of their Jerilderie stud dispersal next month, taking out most of the top awards in the March shorn section at the Rabobank National Merino Sheep Show and Ram Sale, Dubbo.
It began with 13 entries on the mat in the March-shorn pair before the judges narrowed it down to just five with One Oak eventually winning.
The ewe portion of the duo, One Oak13-002, possessed a 17.1-micron fleece, 2.6-micron standard deviation (SD), 15.2 co-efficient of variation (CV) and 99.9pc comfort factor (CF).
Her sire, OO11-304 sold to White River stud, Minnipa, South Australia, for $21,000 at the Royal Adelaide show in 2012.
The lead ram, sired by OO11-076, One Oak 13-004, had a 17.6-micron fleece, 2.8-micron SD, 15.9pc CV and 99.8 CF.
One Oak 13-004 stood tall and strong on the mat the entire show, taking out the champion fine/ medium wool ram before he was eventually sashed the champion NSW junior March shorn ram.
Mr Wells said One Oak 13-004 would be offered for sale at the Royal Adelaide show next week.
One Oak performed well in the March shorn ewe classes, showing the champion March shorn fine wool ewe, reserve champion March shorn fine wool ewe, champion fine/medium March shorn ewe and the reserve and champion strong wool March shorn ewes.
