UPDATED 5:15 AROUND 400 pigs have been confirmed dead from Thursday's fire at the Boen Boe piggery near Bowral in the Southern Highlands.
Originally it was thought just 250 pigs perished.
Police are not treating the fire as suspicious. Their investigations will continue as soon as the scene is declared safe to enter.
Crews arrived at the piggery at 10am on Thursday to find multiple sheds alight. They battled the blaze for three hours before it was contained.
NSW Rural Fire Service inspector David Bartlett said a number of sheds were lost.
"A number of those sheds were deemed a 100 per cent loss," he said.
"A number of livestock (pigs) were lost due in the fire as well. I don’t know exact figures but it is in the hundreds."
