THE spoils were shared among the schools competing at the Northern Schools Steer competition which kicked off on Wednesday.
Held in Narrabri, 16 schools competed, 250 students participated and 55 head of cattle were judged on the hoof.
Paraders, junior beef handler classes and steer competitions were all held as part of the competition.
Grand champion steer went to Hoof from Coonamble High School, while best presented school was awarded to Inverell High School.
Winner of the Stockmans Challenge was Tenterfield High School year 10 students Bill Finnerty and Jake Smith.
Coonamble High School won the champion middleweight steer, while the champion heavyweight steer was shown by Farrer Agricultural High School.
Judges were John Manchee, Narrabri; Pip Hann, Truro Herefords, Bellata, and Patrick Rankmore, Gunnedah.
