QUAD bike safety is one of the key areas of focus when it comes to overall prevention of farm accidents.
The Australian Centre for Agricultural Health and Safety reports quad bikes are the leading cause of accidental death and injury on farms.
Almost nine out of every 10 rollover deaths occur on a farm.
Matthew Tiplady, who distributes the Lifeguard ATV Rollover Protector - a New Zealand product offering crush protection on quads - said quad bike safety was a serious issue.
The flexible roll bar of segmented construction has been designed to offer crush protection by deflecting weight and moulding around the rider's body should the quad roll.
"Helmets help, but crush protection is going to be the biggest advantage to a farmer having it on his bike," Mr Tiplady said.
The Lifeguard is mounted to the rear of the quad and is designed to support the quad off the ground.
