IN releasing the latest version of the 10-6HD Tandem Plough, Countrywide Industries principal Rodney Carr, Dubbo, has continued to listen to customers before manufacturing the “heavyweight champion” of Australian ploughs.
The 10-6HD (heavy duty) tandem disc plough weighs 31,750 kilograms and can be fitted with a 68-plate 30 centimetre (12 inch) disc spacing fitted with 91cm (36in) discs, and can take up to 101cm (40in) disc.
“There are two disc spacings – a 26.6cm (10.5in) for woody weed regrowth maintenance or 30cm (12in) for heavy irrigation field preparation,” Mr Carr said.
“I could see an opportunity that farmers needed heavy equipment to be truly effected in the paddock and there wasn’t anything in the marketplace.
“This plough has a 10 by 6in (15.2cm) rectangular hollow sections (RHS) frame size with heavy three-quarter plates on each side and machines are available rigid or in folding versions.”
The folding version is very strong and has been made with locked down folding gangs with large tapered roller bearings on a trunion mount when working.
The wing is not flexible, it locks down rigid because the unit it must be strong to prevent snapping off while working regrowth country.
“The plough can be used for deep working, turning and mulching and breaking up paddocks or in the maintenance of regrowth country that requires another working,” Mr Carr said.
“This disc is ideal for working ground after blade ploughing to level ground before sowing pasture.”
Many ploughs in the past didn’t dig very deep and snapped off plants at the roots which would enable regrowth with the next rain, Mr Carr said.
“The 10-6HD tandem plough goes deep and digs the roots out for a permanent kill,” he said.
“If farmers did this work when it’s dry they’ll get a better kill on weeds and open up soil for rain penetration,” Mr Carr said.
