THE staff at Chambers Cellars in Yass certainly live up to the store’s slogan: “Where the customer comes first”.
Not only do they remember the shopping habits of customers, they aim to make the experience pleasant, and will always offer to carry heavy items to the carpark.
Manager Mick Gaffney has run the business for six years for independent owner Steve Chambers, Sydney.
Chambers Cellars is on the southern edge of town and customers in the north pass two supermarket bottle shops and several pubs to find such good service.
“We go the extra yard for customers and are willing to help out where we can,” Mr Gaffney said. “Sometimes we can’t beat them on price but we can in service.
“You have to have a friendly, smiling face, especially in a country town where you know customers. People appreciate that little bit extra.”
