THE Wodonga annual weaner sales have kicked off at the Barnawartha saleyards today.
The Blue Ribbon Angus mixed-sex weaners started the sale, and will be followed by Blue Ribbon Hereford, Hereford-cross and Euro weaners next week.
Paul and Scollard livestock sales consultant Luke Deimel said he expected up to 8000 yardings during the two days.
“It’s been pretty wet down here, but I’d be very shocked if there were blokes who struggled getting their cattle to the sale,” Mr Deimel said.

STORIES
Red hot prices at Wodonga
NORTHERN rain washed buyers down to Wodonga for the first of the annual weaner feature sales held today.
All predictions of hope for this northern competition came to fruition with a large percentage of the steers, and heifers, heading into northern NSW and southern Queensland.
The independent agents sale opened with a few pens of yearling steers, weighing up to 501 kilograms liveweight, and competition for these was solid.
