IN PREPARATION to sell some of his lambs, Graeme Somers said weighing and drafting had to be done.
"I've been in partnership with Ross Armstrong for the past 17 years, with G. and R. Farming at Parkes" Mr Somers said.
"We have about 2000 ewes and lambs, while trade numbers vary."
Mr Somers said last week they sold off some of their ewes for a top of $187 a head.
"We're getting ready to sell some lambs over-the-hooks to Thomas Foods International (TFI)," he said.
"We sell the suckers from four-and-half-months to 12 months and we also buy in store lambs to feed and off load."
Mr Somers said they have about 2500 hectares of cropping and have self feeders of barley for the lambs.
"We sold some to TFI before Christmas to $140 a head, which is pretty good at 540 cents a kilogram over-the-hooks, including skins," he said.
"The lamb market will remain the same, I don't think it will vary much, there's not an over supply of stock."
He said there needs to be more numbers otherwise it won't last too long.
